502 Garden Trl,
Greenville, South Carolina 29605-3200
With two 18-hole championship courses, Riverside and Chanticleer, the Greenville Country Club is a year-round golfer's delight. Featuring more holes than any other area facility, the Club offers a maximum of flexible opportunities to play in uncrowded conditions.
The Chanticleer Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, has been rated by Golf Digest as one of America's Top 100 Courses since 1979, and has just been named #6 in South Carolina for 2008. This 6,688-yard par 72 layout is privately situated separately from the rest of the club as a golf-only facility. The course offers one of the most beautiful and challenging golf opportunities available anywhere.' Rolling fairways, towering hardwoods and pines, pure white sand, gently flowing creeks, and some of the most challenging greens in the nation combine to make Chanticleer one of the most memorable experiences in the U.S. for even the best golfers.
The Riverside Course, originally laid out on a topographical map by course designer Donald Ross in 1919 was later directed during on-site construction by golf architect William B. Langford. The course was finished in 1923 and opened on July 4. The original course was all on 158 acres above the Reedy River. Local architect, George Cobb, redesigned the course to incorporate land purchased "across the Reedy" which included seven new holes four decades later and the "new" Riverside opened on June 16, 1962. In 2006 the club commissioned famed architect, Brian Silva to completely redesign the course in the Seth Raynor style and the course opened to rave revues in the fall of 2007.
Both Chanticleer and Riverside have their own pro shops, restaurants, and practice areas - complete with driving ranges, practice greens, practice bunkers, teaching facilities and club storage. The club employs six full-time PGA Professionals who provide year-round private lessons, club fitting and equipment assistance.
