About Laurel Hill Golf Course:

Laurel Hill Golf Course opened on August 6, 1977. It was the creation of the late Harvey Granger (1909-1997), who moved to the Rogue Valley in the early 60’s after farming in Fremont, CA for thirty years.

In addition to his ranch in the Applegate, he acquired part of the Chavner Thompson property near Exit 40 off I-5, with the idea that a portion of it could be turned into a golf course.

Some years earlier, he and his brother had built a small 9-hole public course near Fremont, CA, and Harvey felt that a similar course on this site located between Grants Pass and Medford would be a welcome asset to golf in southern Oregon. With the assistance an architect and several stout-hearted friends, the course became a reality during the years of 1975-77, with an elegant rustic clubhouse, nine challenging holes of golf and, later on, picturesque driving range.
